SUBJECT: 41ST STREET ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING PROGRAM
The Community/Economic Development Department, in partnership with the Middle Beach
Partnership, has initiated the Miami Beach Economic Restructuring Program for 41 st Street. The
purpose of the program is to identify business retention, recruitment and expansion strategies and
to formulate and implement programs that address the needs of the existing businesses, new
businesses and customers.
The program is designed to assist the existing businesses and enhance 41st Street's re-emerging
reputation as a good place in which to do business. One objective of the program is to learn the
perceptions of the broader community as they relate to 41 st Street, and to identify the advantages and
disadvantages of doing business on 41 st Street. The program is also designed to respond to business
needs and address those issues that detract from 41 st Street as a good location to do business, and
to build upon those strengths that enhance 41 st Street' s competitiveness. Not only will the program
identify trends in the existing markets, it will also identify ways to tap into markets that are currently
under served.
The project is expected to last through the summer, and during this time the City and the Middle
Beach Partnership will be working together to ensure that the outcome is successful and will lead
to increased vibrancy of the 41 st Street commercial area. If you have any questions or comments
please contact me.
