RESOLUTION NO. 2006-26238
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
CANVASSING BOARD TO SERVE AS CANVASSING
BOARD FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7,2006 AT
THE TIME OF THE COUNTYWIDE GENERAL
ELECTION.
WHEREAS, on November 7,2006, Miami-Dade County will be conducting elections at
which time the City of Miami Beach has authorized the holding of a Special Election for the
purposes of electing one City Commissioner in Group Number V to fill the vacancy on the City
Commission occasioned as a result of Commissioner Luis Garcia's resignation, and for the
purpose of presenting several ballot questions to the City's voters; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is charged with the full responsibility of conducting
the aforesaid election, except for accepting the Miami-Dade County Department of Election's
certificate of elections concerning the results of the City of Miami Beach's Special Election; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Canvassing Board shall be charged with the
statutory responsibilities relating to the conduct of elections for the November 7, 2006 election
and is thus authorized to act as Canvassing Board for the City of Miami Beach Special Election.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Miami-Dade
County Canvassing Board is hereby authorized to act as Canvassing Board for the City of Miami
Beach's November 7,2006 Special Election.

BOARD TO SERVE AS CITY'S CANVASSING BOARD FOR NOVEMBER 7,
2006 SPECIAL ELECTION
Pursuant to Florida Statutes, an election's Canvassing Board is charged with responsibilities relating
to the conduct of elections. The attached Resolution has thus been prepared as a housekeeping
matter for the purpose of formally authorizing the Miami-Dade County Canvassing Board to serve as
Canvassing Board for the City of Miami Beach's November 7,2006 Special Election,
