RESOLUTION NO. 2000-23891
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO SIGN ALL CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, PURCHASE
ORDERS AND CHANGE ORDERS REQUIRED TO MAKE
PREPARATIONS BEFORE AND CLEAN-UP EFFORTS AFTER
STORMS DURING THE 2000 HURRICANE SEASON IN THE INTEREST
OF THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF CITIZENS AND
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, it is possible that during the 2000 Hurricane Season, the City of Miami
Beach may be required to make preparations before, and clean-up efforts after, a storm in the
interest of the health, safety and welfare of citizens and employees of the City, which will require
emergency contracts, agreements, purchase orders, and change orders in excess of the $10,000
limitation of authority of the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, it is required that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with the award
and execution of any such contracts, agreements, purchase orders, and change orders during the
2000 Hurricane Season; and
WHEREAS, an official record of any such contract, agreement, purchase order, and
change order will be presented to the Mayor and City Commission for after-the fact ratification.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby authorize the City Manager to sign all required contracts, agreements,
purchase orders, and change orders that may be required to make preparations before, and clean-
up efforts after, storms during the 2000 Hurricane Season, in the interest of health, safety and
welfare of citizens and employees of the City of Miami Beach.

ADMINISTRA TIVE RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
It is possible that during hurricane season the City of Miami Beach may be required to make
preparations before or clean-up efforts after a storm, which will require emergency contracts in
excess ofthe $10,000 limitations of authority ofthe City Manager. Services such as debris removal,
emergency repairs, rental of heavy equipment, and landscape services are the types of essential
contracts which may be required.
It is requested that the City Manager be authorized to proceed, if needed, with the award ofthose
essential contracts, purchase orders, and change orders, with an official record of such awards to be
presented to the City Commission after-the-fact for ratification.
It is recommended that the Mayor and City Commission approve this request to ensure that essential
services and equi ent are available during this period.
