98-22728 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 98-22728 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF PLANT MATERIALS FROM MILLER AND SOLOMON, INC. AS A RESULT OF EXPANSIONIRENOVATION PLANS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MORTON TOWERS PROPERTY. WHEREAS, the City has embarked on a major beautification effort which includes the planting of trees to enhance its public property, rights-of-way and parks throughout the City; and WHEREAS, major thoroughfares, several neighborhoods and City parks have been, or are in the process of being beautified; and WHEREAS, donation of 12 mature Canary Island Date Palms, 25 Coconut Palms, 3 large Reclinata Palms and various other assorted hedges and ground covers, at an estimated cost of $100,000; and WHEREAS, said donation will supplement the City's Tree Program and enhance city-owned parks and landscaped area. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA accepting the donation of plant materials from Miller and Solomon as a result of expansion/renovation plans associated with the Morton Towers Property. AS A RESULT OF EXPANSION/RENOV A TION PLANS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MORTON TOWERS PROPERTY. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution. BACKGROUND: As a result of the expansion/renovation plans associated with the Morton Towers property, Miller and Solomon, Inc. has offered to donate 12 mature Canary Island Date Palms, 25 Coconut Palms, 3 large Rec1inata Palms and various other assorted hedges and ground covers to the City. The Parks Department will be responsible for relocating the plant material throughout the City's public right-of-ways and Parks. This plant material will greatly enhance the City's ongoing beautification effort to enhance its public property, rights-of-way and City parks. ANAL YSIS: This donation will supplement the City's Tree Program and enhance city-owned parks and landscaped areas. This donation is estimated to be over $100,000. CONCLUSION: The Administration recommends that the City Commission accept this generous donation of plant materials from Miller and Solomon.
