98-22732 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 98-22732 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF ONE (1) USED 1987 FORD E350 FIRE RESCUE VEHICLE (VEHICLE NUMBER 24-7 WITH 109,840 MILES); ONE (1) USED 1988 FORD E350 FIRE RESCUE VEHICLE; ONE (1) USED 1972 AMERICAN LAFRANCE FIRE TRUCK-PUMPER; TWO (2) 1989 GMC 2500 PICKUP TRUCKS; ONE (1) 1990 DODGE D250 PICKUP TRUCK; AND ONE (1) LOT OF (NEW) REPAIR PARTS, ALL IN THEIR "AS IS" CONDITION, TO ITS SISTER CITY OF ICA, PERU. WHEREAS, the City wishes to donate one (1) used 1987 Ford E350 Fire Rescue Vehicle; one (1) used 1988 Ford E350 Fire Rescue Vehicle; one (1) used 1972 American Lafrance Fire Truck- Pumper; two (2) used 1989 GMC 2500 Pickup Trucks; one (1) used 1990 Dodge D250 Pickup Truck; and one (1) lot of (new) repair parts, all with an estimated total value of$18,000, to its Sister City of Ica, Peru; and WHEREAS, no funds are required from the City for the donation of these vehicles and materials; and WHEREAS, this donation is made in its "as is" condition and the City makes no representation as to the condition of the vehicles and materials, and no warranties, expressed or implied, and assumes no further responsibility on behalf of the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA that the Mayor and City Commission herein authorize the donation of one (1) used 1987 Ford E350 Fire Rescue Vehicle; one (1) used 1988 Ford E350 Fire Rescue Vehicle; one (1) used 1972 American Lafrance Fire Truck- Pumper; two (2) used 1989 GMC 2500 Pickup Trucks; one (1) used 1990 Dodge D250 Pickup Truck; and one (1) lot of (new) repair parts, all in their "as is" condition, to its Sister City ofIca, Peru. SUBJECT: ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION Adopt the Resolution. BACKGROUND On February 18, 1998 the City Commission asked the Administration to identify vehicles and equipment which could be donated to our Sister City lea, Peru. This was a result of the presentation made at the February 18, 1998 Commission Meeting by Mr. Roberto Datorre about the damage to lea as a result of the El Nino devastation. These vehicles are no longer in service and have been replaced. The City has tried to return the repair parts but the vendors are not willing to accept them. The vehicles and parts would otherwise be auctioned by the City. CONCLUSION The City Commission should authorize the donation to our Sister City lea, Peru.
