SUBJECT: North Shore Park Youth Center Events!
Girl's S/eepover- North Shore Park Youth Center hosted its annual girl's sleepover Friday
night, December 15, 2006. The group of thirty-eight 3rd through 6th graders were selected
based on behavior, attendance and participation in the after school program. The oriental
themed event proved to be a memorable evening for the girls as they participated in a variety
of activities that kept them up until 3 am. For some of them, dinner was an exciting
experience as they ate their food with chop sticks while sitting on the floor, as in the Chinese
culture.
Walking Tall at the Carnival Center- Seventeen participants from North Shore Park's after
school program were not to be missed as they performed for the 2nd consecutive year in the
Carnival Center for the Performing Arts Walking Tall Physical Theater Program (1300
Biscayne Boulevard) on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at the brand new Carnival Center
Plaza in Downtown, Miami. The primers in grades 2nd - 3rd juggled pins, balls, and rings in
the air while juniors in grades 4th - 6th walked seven feet tall on stilts in their carnival outfits
amusing the audience filled with family and friends. The presentation was truly a wonderful
experience not only for the children but for the audience as well. Congratulations to all the
children for their great work!
Flag Football Tournament - The Parks and Recreation Department presents another
exciting event for City of Miami Beach after school participants. North Shore Parlk and Youth
Center will host the Third Annual Winter Break Flag Football Tournament beginning
Wednesday, December 27, 2006 through Friday, December 29,2006 at 10:30 am each day.
Teams consisting of primers, juniors, and teens in grades 2nd through 12'h will have a
chance to shine and show off their skills on the gridiron.

explores new ways to provide children with the opportunity to experience a variety of
educational and fun activities. North Shore Park will add a Comic Book Club for children in
grades 4th - 7th who are currently enrolled in the after school program. Club members will
meet every Friday beginning January 12, 2007 from 4 - 6 pm. Children will put their creative
