Middle District Burglaries Arrest
TO:
FROM:
SUBJECT:
This LTC is to provide an update on an arrest made of a subject responsible for multiple
burglaries in Mid Beach. The following is a brief summary of the investigation leading to this
important arrest: .
Criminal Investigations Unit Property Section Detectives received information from the
United States U.S. Marshal's Office that a cellular telephone that was taken during a
burglary at a home in Mid Beach was being used to call an individual that lives in Kendall.
Detectives responded to the Kendall residence and interviewed the occupant to ascertain
who was calling him from the stolen cellular phone. After questioning the individual, he
mentioned that he had a friend who called him from a Miami residence near 79th Street.
Detectives immediately began a surveillance on the residence near 79th Street. After a few
hours, the subject arrived and was subsequently questioned by Detectives. Pursuant to the
Detectives initial investigative interview, the subject admitted to direct involvement in several
burglaries that occurred on Miami Beach. The subject then gave the Detectives consent to
search his residence. As the subject opened the door to his residence, Detectives noticed
several items in plain view that appeared to have been taken from burglaries on Miami
Beach. The subject was arrested and transported to the Miami Beach Police station for
further questioning.
Over thirteen boxes of jewelry, computer hardware and other items believed to be stolen
were confiscated from the subject's residence. Detectives conducted further investigative
questioning at the Miami Beach Police Station. During the ensuing interview, the subject
confessed to over nine residential burglaries in the Middle District of Miami Beach. It is
anticipated that additional cases will be cleared based upon the victims ability to identify their
property from the large amount of evidence that was confiscated at the subject's residence.
While this arrest accounts for a substantial amount of the Mid Beach burglaries, the Police
Department will continue to pursue each and every investigative and proactive police
initiatives that are available to identify and arrest the subjects involved in the remaining
unsolved cases. I will keep you updated on the status of the remaining Middle District
burglary cases as information becomes available.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
