2007-26437 Reso RESOLUTION NO. 2007-26437 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING, PURSUANT TO SECTION 2-367 (d) OF THE MIAMI BEACH CITY CODE, THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF TRIP HAZARD REMOVAL SERVICES FROM FLORIDA SIDEWALK SOLUTIONS, IN THE ESTIMATED ANNUAL AMOUNT OF $75,000. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-367 (d) of the Miami Beach City Code, the City may enter into contracts for goods and/or services where only one source for the product or service is evident; and WHEREAS, since last year, the Public Works Department has been using the services of Florida Sidewalk Solutions since its proprietary saw-cutting method for the removal of trip hazards on sidewalk has been proven to be a cost- effective and saving alternative process to grinding the sidewalk or complete removal and replacement of entire sidewalk panels; and WHEREAS Florida Sidewalk Solutions uses unique patented Numbers 6,896,604 & 6,827,024 saw cuts to remove trip hazards in as little as eight (8) minutes to bring sidewalks to American with Disabilities Act (ADA) specifications without interrupting circulation for long periods of time; and WHEREAS, the overall benefits of this process are: (1) most trip hazards are removed in less than twenty (20) minutes which allows for 100 or more trip hazards to be repaired per day; (2) significantly less expensive than removal and replacement process; (3) finish is smooth, clean and slip-resistant; (4) comprehensive written assessment and invoices which include size, location, and cost of each trip hazards; (5) Not need of closing off streets or sidewalks; and (6) ADA compliance; and WHEREAS, with the utilization of the proprietary saw-cutting method proposed by Florida Sidewalk Solutions, the average cost per trip hazard is $36.55, and it takes an average of twenty (20) minutes to finalize the repair; and WHEREAS, Florida Sidewalk Solutions has been utilized by other municipalities such as the City of Naples, Florida; Pleasant Grove City, Utah; Taylorsville City, Utah; Alpine School District, Utah; and Bountiful City, Utah; and WHEREAS, the Administration has complied with the documenting requirements for sole source purchases, pursuant to Section 2-367 (d) of the Miami Beach City Code; and WHEREAS, accordingly, the Administration recommends that that the Mayor and City Commission hereby approve the sole source purchase of trip hazard removal services from Florida Sidewalk Solutions, in the estimated annual amount of $ 75,000.
