RESOLUTION NO. 2000-24024
A RESOLUTION OF THE MA YORAND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE AWARD OF ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $2,500.00, FOR THE LINCOLN ROAD COMMUNITY POLICING
ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM OF THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the City was awarded grant funding under the Drug Control and System
Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 1999/2000, with funding being administered by Miarni- Dade
County; and
WHEREAS, the grant is funding the new Lincoln Road Community Policing Enhancement
Program, providing two additional police officers on bicycles on Friday and Saturday nights; and
WHEREAS, the City has received total grant funding, in the amount of$61,875.00, with
the City providing a cash match, in the amount of$15,468.00, which will be derived from the Police
Confiscations Account; and
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded an additional $2,500.00, with the City providing a
cash match, in the amount of$833.00, which will be derived from the Police Confiscations Account.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City
Commission herein approve and accept the award of additional grant funds, in the amount of
$2,500.00, for the Lincoln Road Community Policing Enhancement Program of the Miami Beach
Police Department.

ANALYSIS
The City has received Grant funding for fiscal year 1999-2000, under the Drug Control and System
Improvement Program administered by Miami-Dade County. The City was awarded $46,407 in grant
funds to create the Lincoln Road Community Policing Enhancement Program. The City matched this
amount with $15,468 derived from the Police Confiscations Account for a total program cost of
$61,875. The funds are being used to pay for overtime to deploy two police officers for seven hours
each on Friday and Saturday nights for a total of cost of $59,259 and to purchase three new police
bicycles at a total cost of $2,616. The grant will became effective on October 1, 1999 and will end
on September 30, 2000.
The City has been awarded an additional $2,500. The City will provide $833 in matching funds,
derived from the Police Confiscations Account. The additional funding will be used to enhance
staffing on Lincoln Road to handle the increase in juveniles due to the summer vacation.
It is recommended that the Mayor and City Commission adopt this Resolution accepting the
additional award of$2,500.
