RESOLUTION NO. 2005-26027
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO
THE STATE OF FLORIDA CULTURAL SUPPORT GRANT
PROGRAM, FOR GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT FUNDING FOR
THE BASS MUSEUM OF ART, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$300,000; FURTHER APPROPRIATING THE GRANT AND MATCH
IF APPROVED AND ACCEPTED BY THE CITY; AND
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THIS APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, the goal of the Cultural Support Grants Program is to provide state
recognition through competitive grants for significant public programs that preserve,
strengthen, and foster excellence and diversity in art or culture for Florida's residents
and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the program is funded by the Florida Legislature, and is dedicated to
funding not-for-profit cultural organizations, recurring cultural programs, museums and
arts programs of non-arts organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Program provides funds for general operating support for
museums, cultural centers, arts organization and other multi-purpose public or private
nonprofit institutions with recurring programs; and
WHEREAS, this grant requires matching funds, at a 1:1 ratio, and the City has
these funds available from the Bass Museum operating funds; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH that the Mayor and City Commission
hereby authorize the City Manager or his designee to submit approval for a grant
application to the State of Florida Cultural Support Grant program, for general program
support funding for the Bass Museum of Art, in an amount not to exceed $300,000;
further appropriating the grant and match if approved and accepted by the city; and
authorizing the execution of all necessary documents related to this application.

Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
The goal of the Cultural Support Grants Program is to provide state recognition through
competitive grants for significant public programs that preserve, strengthen, and foster
excellence and diversity in art or culture for Florida's residents and visitors. The program is
funded by the Florida Legislature, and is dedicated to funding not-for-profit cultural
organizations, recurring cultural programs, museums and arts programs of non-arts
organizations.
The Program provides funds for general operating support for museums, cultural centers,
arts organization and other multi-purpose public or private nonprofit institutions with
recurring programs.
This grant requires matching funds, at a 1: 1 ratio. The City has these funds available from
the Bass Museum operating funds.
CONCLUSION
