HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-22255 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 97-22255 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING COMMITTEE; EXTENDING THE TERM OF ITS MEMBERS AND EXPIRA TION DA TE OF THE COMMITTEE FROM DECEMBER 31, 1996 TO APRIL 27, 1997, SETTING A RETROACTIVE EFFECTIVE DATE TO DECEMBER 31, 1996. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 93-20875 established the Transportation and Pa"ki Ig Committee; and WHEREAS, on July 12,1995, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Eea ~h passed and approved Resolution No. 95-21643, which repealed Resolution No. 20875 and Sf:t tIe term and expiration date of July 31, 1996 for the Members of the Transportation and Pa-ki 19 Committee; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 96-22053 adopted on July 3, 1996, extended the Beard's expiration date to December 3 1, 1996: and WHEREAS, the function of the Committee is being addressed under the Work Produ ct )f the Board and Committees Review Committee, which will result in new legislation anticipated to >e completed in the Spring of 1997 and in order to maintain such function uninterrupted durin,~ t Ie drafting process, it serves the City's interest to further extend termination of the Committet: a ld expiration of Members' terms. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CI1Y COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the Termination date of the Transportation and Parking Committee and tile terms of its Members are hereby extended until April 27, 1997. Section 2. This Resolution shall be effective upon adoption retroactively to December 31, 1996. PASSED and ADOPTED this ~ day of January , 1997. I have sent a memorandum to the City Attorney requesting that a resolution be drafted to extend the terms of the members and the termination date of the Committee until April 25, 1997. In this way, the work of the Committee will not be interrupted while the City Attorney drafts legislation in accordance with the recommendations of the Board and Committee Review Committee.
