At the July 26, 2000 City Commission meeting, the City Commission authorized the Administration
to submit an application in the amount of $40,000 to the Florida Department of Community Affairs'
Urban rnfill and Redevelopment Grant Program. The purpose of this grant is to develop an infill and
revitalization strategy utilizing a holistic and collaborative community participation planning
process, The specific area of focus identified for this project is the 5th Street corridor, bordered on
the north and south by 7th & 4th Streets, and on the west and east by Alton Road and Collins Avenue.
The planning process under this grant includes, but is not limited to, the following issues:
transportation, health care, housing, crime, economic development, social services, education and

The grant application requires that the City involve as many area stakeholders as possible, To that
end, the Administration has prepared the attached letter that will be sent to organizations in the area,
informing them of the City's application and requesting their participation. A list of organizations
is attached as well.
Several Commissioners have requested that their aides be involved in this effort. Kevin Crowder of
the Community!Economic Development Department will be coordinating this effort during the grant
process itself and during implementation,
Please contact me if you would like your staff to actively participate in the process or if you have
any comments, questions, or additional organizations that should be included on this list.
