To properly prepare our City for the anticipated high impact of tourists and visitors on the upcoming
holiday weekend, the relevant City Departments met on May 9, 2000, The attached action plans
have been prepared as a result of issues raised, Furthermore, please be advised that the only
approved permit for a Special Event is the Urban Fashion Week Production (final approval
attached), We do expect a very activeBar/Club weekend, and we will be monitoring for
overcrowding and violation of the City's 21 and Older Policy, In addition, the "Juice Bars" have
been approved for an extension oftheir hours, in accordance with the applicable Ordinance,

Department of Code Compliance
The Department of Code Compliance during Memorial Day weekend will be
employing additional personnel during each shift to patrol for illegal
vendors, posters and flyers placed around the city, The night shift
will be responding to noise complaints, ispecting the nightclubs to
determine compliance with 2:00AM and 5:00AM liqour licenses and
assiting the Police Department in enforcing the new 21 and over
ordinance for nightclubs. The additional staff will ensure a 24-hour
coverage for the department during the weekend including Memorial Day.

As requested the foIlowing is a program of enhanced services to be provided by Recreation and Beach
Patrol Divisions over the upcoming holiday weekend, Additionally, the overview for Parks and
Landscape Maintenance Divisions is also attached,
Recreation Division
Most Recreation Division facilities will be open for "holiday business as usual." This includes, pools,
tennis facilities, pavilion rentals @ South Pointe, etc, There will be no Recreation programs open in the
neighborhood parks or the Youth Center, Additionally, the Recreation Divison will provide the
following ehnanced service levels,
Flamingo Park:
Saturday: Flamingo Park will be staffed with assistance from
Tennis staff if/when needed with added support from Parks for ground maintenance,
Sunday: Tennis Center staffwill complete two cleaning rounds to include
softball, rest rooms, hand ball courts, Parks will insure the grounds maintenance as scheduled,
Monday: One 8 hour shift to insure the above with added support from
Tennis as required and Parks.
Total cost for Flamingo Park $153.29,
South Point Park:
Will be staffed Saturday through Monday with Recreation personnel and the grounds maintenance will
be done by Parks Division's additional maintenance crews,
Total cost for South Point Park $336,00,
Grand total $489.29,
Beach Patrol Division
The Beach Patrol Division will have a full staff on duty and all lifeguard towers staffed, At this time the
Patrol anticipates having all equipment including the Division's boat, jet skis and all terrain vehicles in
operation for optimum safety of our beach going public, The Beach Patrol is on full alert and prepared to
extend the hours of operation past normal closing time of 6 PM and/or call in additional personnel, on an
as needed basis, should there be unforseen circumstances such as larger than anticipated holiday
weekend crowds, high winds creating rip currents or other unusual conditions,

The schedule for restroom cleanings for this weekend are as follows:
The restrooms will be cleaned beginning at 11:00 am, They will be
cleaned again at 12:00 and 1:00. At 2:00 a full time roving crew
composed of a male and female attendant will come on duty and provide
continuous cleanings and restocking of the restrooms until 8:00 pm. At
8:00 the restroom will be cleaned and locked for the night. This will
be provided for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday,
The restrooms included are the rest rooms located at South Painte Park,
3rd Street, 6th Street, lOth Street, 14th Street, and 21th Street. Due
to problems in the past, we are also including the service for the
46th Street rest rooms as well just to be prepared.
