Cheerleaders Fund Raising for Competition- The Miami Beach X-treme Cheerleaders
hosted their 4th annual yard sale On Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th. The set
up was in front of the Miami Beach Police Athletic League at Flamingo Park and was a huge
success raising over $1000. The girls were asked to bring all unwanted items from their
homes and community donations were sold as well. All proceeds will go towards the
cheerleader's out of state competition this year at Hershey Park, Pennsylvania on May 11 th_
13th.
North Shore's Latest Play- On Friday, March 30th, 2007, The North Shore Park Players put
on yet another phenomenal performance with their latest play, The Streets 2 "Youth of the
Nation" at Flamingo Park. Over 300 spectators were left in awe from the dramatic yet
comical content that was presented. The "Youth ofthe Nation" touched on various subjects
that teenagers and adults deal with on a daily basis with conclusions to scenes from the first
"Streets", as well as the addition of new characters and story lines.
Congrats... MB Cheerleaders - The Miami Beach X-treme Cheerleaders Advance Stunt
Group competed in their first competition on April 1, 2007 at the Jamfest Nationals
Competition in Ft. Lauderdale. The team chose five strong members and put together a one-
minute and ten second routine of intense stunting. The girls came out with the best overall
score on both the junior and senior divisions.
North Shore Teen Club - The North Shore Park Teen Club members took an adventurous,
exciting, but yet educational four day trip. The group first headed to Orlando, Florida on
Monday, April 2 at 3 AM were they enjoyed a day at the MGM Studios. They continued their
trip with a ten hour drive to South Carolina for a day of wild whitewater rafting and then drove
back to Orlando to enjoy an evening at Walt Disney World. The teens ended their trip at St.
Petersburg, Florida with an educational tour ofthe Salvador Dali Museum on Thursday, April
5th.
Spring Eggstavaganza - Approximately 2,000 people enjoyed a day of rides, music, food,
eggs and our famous Parks and Recreation Easter Bunnies at our Spring Eggstavaganza
held at NSYC on April 7, 2007. Children ages 10 and under participated in the Egg Hunt.
The little bunnies with their baskets in hand, eagerly awaited the OJ's countdown to begin
their hunt. The children continued their day full of fun enjoying the many rides and activities.
Movie In The Park- Nearly 200 Miami Beach residents gathered at Flamingo Park to enjoy
"Charlotte's Web" on Friday, April 13, 2007. Families sat close together on blankets and
lawn chairs and enjoyed complementary popcorn and candy throughout the film.
Earth Day - The Parks and Recreation Department hosted its 1 st annual Earth Day
Celebration on Friday April 20, 2007 sponsored by HSBC. North Shore Park was filled with
rides, games, a petting zoo/animal exhibits, arts and crafts, performances, food and music.
Over 1,000 people were spread throughout the event enjoying the festivities, getting their
faces painted and observing the contestant's work for the RAP (Recycled Arts Project)
contest. After School program participants performed skits, dances, and a "Trash Art"
fashion show. Over $600 was raised at the event with all proceeds to be donated to Relay
for Life and the American Cancer Society.
