2000-24087 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 2000-24087 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, DIVISION OF RECREATION AND PARKS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF RENOVATING THE TENNIS COURTS AT FLAMINGO PARK, IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000, TO BE MATCHED WITH $100,000 OF CITY FUNDING, AS RECOMMENDED IN THE APPROVED $92 MILLION GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND PROGRAM, FUND 374; FURTHER APPROPRIATING THE GRANT, IF APPROVED AND ACCEPTED BY THE CITY, IN THE WORK ORDER FOR THE FLAMINGO PARK GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND PROGRAM RENOVATION PROJECT; AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THIS APPLICATION. WHEREAS, the State of Florida allocates funding annually to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Recreation and Parks for the purpose of assisting local governmental entities to acquire or develop land for outdoor recreation purposes; and WHEREAS, these funds are made available to eligible governmental applicants through the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP), examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to the construction of tennis courts, picnic facilities, bicycle trails, fishing piers, and boardwalks; and WHEREAS, on June 19, 1996, the City Commission approved the General Obligation Bond Parks Master Plan for the restoration of the City's Parks System and on November 2, 1999 the citizens of Miami Beach approved the $92 Million 1999 General Obligation Bond Program, including improvements and enhancements for Flamingo Park; and WHEREAS,These renovations include but are not limited to new tennis courts, which are eligible costs to be funded by this grant source and, if approved, will contribute significantly to the Flamingo Park project. 1 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission herein approve and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to submit an application for grant funds from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Recreation and Parks, for the purpose of renovating the tennis courts at Flamingo Park, in the amount of $ 100,000, to be matched with $100,000 of City funding, as recommended in the approved $92 Million General Obligation Bond Program, Fund 374; further appropriating the grant, if approved and accepted by the City, in the Work Order for the Flamingo Park General Obligation Bond Program Renovation Project; and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute all necessary documents related to this application, PASSED and ADOPTED this 27th day of September, 2000. 11~ MAYOR ATTEST: ~~ (LL- CITY CLERK JMG/MDB/KS T:\AGENDA \2000\SEP2700\CONSENT\FRDAPO 1 ,RES P;'PROVED AS TO fORM & lANGUAGE I. The total recommended improvements are estimated at $5,300,000.
