RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 93-
20963 WHICH EXTENDED THE OPERATIONAL
HOURS OF PARKING METERS SOUTH OF DADE
BOULEVARD/23RD STREET TO INCLUDE THE
HOURS BETWEEN 6: 00 A. M. AND MIDNIGHT,
AND PROVIDING THAT HEREAFTER PARKING
METERS IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SHALL
NOT BE OPERATIONAL AFTER 6:00 P.M.
WHEREAS, on November 17, 1993, the Mayor and City Commission
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida adopted Resolution No. 93-
20963, which resolution extended the operational hours of parking
meters South of Dade Boulevard/23rd Street, to include the hours
between 6: 00 P. M. and midnight seven days weekly, holidays
included; and
WHEREAS, parking meter rates in Miami Beach are among the
highest in Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the rates charged for parking at metered spaces in
Miami Beach combined with the hours of operation which include
the evening hours from 6:00 P.M. to midnight in the area South of
Dade Boulevard/23rd Street create an inconvenience for residents
and visitors and are a deterrent to commerce; and
WHEREAS, after consideration and examination of the rate
structure and hours of operation for parking meters in the City
of Miami Beach, the mayor and City Commission believe that there
should be no charge for parking at metered spaces in the City of
Miami Beach after 6:00 P.M., unless said parking facility is
attended at all times after 6:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: that Resolution
No. 93-20963 is hereby repealed; and that effective as soon as
practicable upon adoption of this Resolution, parking meters in
the City of Miami Beach shall not be operational after 6:00 P.M.
unless said parking facility is attended at all times after 6:00
P.M.

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION ROLLING BACK HOURS OF OPERATION OF PARKING
METERS TO 6:00 P.M.
Commissioner Neisen Kasdin requested that our office draft the
attached resolution which rolls back the hours of operation of
parking meters in the City of Miami Beach to 6:00 P.M. Currently,
parking meters south of Twenty-third Street/Dade Boulevard are in
operation until midnight pursuant to Resolution No, 93-20963
adopted on November 17, 1993. The attached resolution provides for
a return to former hours of enforcement which are 6:00 A.M. to 6:00
P,M, There is an exception for lots operated by an attendant; such
lots may continue to be enforced after 6:00 P,M,
