Renourishment c=s 'r
Q'
The purpose of this LTC is to inform to you that the Unity Coalition Organization is
holding a town hall meeting today at 7:30PM at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens to
discuss property tax relief. At the community's request, an agenda item regarding the
on-going Miami-Dade County Beach Renourishment Project has been included in this
meeting at a very short notice.
Representatives from the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources
Management (DERM) will be on hand today to discuss the status of current and future
renourishment projects. City staff will also be present to provide additional support, if
necessary.
Currently, the County is planning short-term renourishment projects to take place
between 43rd and 46th Streets and the area of 29th Street. These renourishment
projects will be undertaken by a truck hauling operation using sand trucked in from
inland quarries. Staging will be located near the spoil area west of the dune and east of
the 45th Street parking lot. Permitting and logistics for the projects are still underway,
however, it is anticipated that the projects will begin after the 4th of July holiday. The
duration of the projects is dependent on the weather, but can be expected to last through
the summer months. More information from DERM regarding the renourishment projects
will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
