Dear Participants in the South Florida Money Laundering Task Force:
The Mutual Aid Agreement empowering the Task Force is up for renewal
and is attached to this note for your signature. Instructions for returning the
signed agreement are on page 16 of the Agreement.
Please note that the Agreement expires June 30, 2008 (14 months from
now) and does not have a clause for a month-to-month extension beyond
that date. FDLE intends to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the
Task Force's current efforts and effectiveness in combating organized drug
trafficking affecting Florida before it commits to a renewal of its participation
in the Task Force after 6/30/08. This assessment will occur and be
completed well before the June 30, 2008 deadline so that a renewal
agreement can be completed ahead of the expiration date if continued
participation is warranted.
The review will be completed by the FDLE Inspector General's Office prior
to the June expiration date. The purpose of review will be to evaluate full
compliance with past audits.
Thanks,
