Mr. Jorge M. Gonzalez
City Manager
City of Miami Beach
1700 Convention Center Drive
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Dear Mr. Manager:
Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from the position of Parking Director with the City of Miami
Beach. I am writing to confirm to you that I have accepted the position of Director of Development Administration of
the City of Hollywood, Florida. I am scheduled to start work there on Monday, October 23,2000. My last day with the
City of Miami Beach will be after completing the City Commission meeting of October 18, 2000. I am committed to
seeing through the budget process, the parking rates, regulations and programs Ordinance, and several other very
important initiatives, programs and projects that will be heard on October 18th. I am dedicated to providing you with
a smooth transition in the leadership ofthe Parking System. As I told you in our meeting last Friday, I will be available
to you and the City by telephone, or if needed in person, to answer any questions or to assist you in whatever is needed
to assure that the good work, programs and projects we have implemented under my administration in parking are carried
through.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to work for this wonderful City that I grew up in. I have enjoyed every minute of
my work in the City, for the past five years and ten months, and I am very proud of the accomplishments achieved in my
capacities of Middle Beach Director and Parking Director. I have enjoyed and have appreciated the support of my
community (residents and businesses), my co-workers, the City Manager's oftice, the City Attorney's office, and the
Mayor and Commission. It has been a heart wrenching decision to leave this wonderful community, but I will do so with
pride and accomplishment.
The position that I have accepted with the City of Hollywood is a challenging and responsible executive position with
the City. The position oversees the City's development process and includes the oversight of the Building Department,
Engineering Department, Real Estate/Asset Management, Code Enforcement and the City's liaison to the Beach and
Downtown CRA Districts. The position offers me the opportunity to return to Economic Development and I am looking
forward to all the new challenges.
I wish you, your staff and the entire City of Miami Beach all the best in the years to come, I will return to VISIt my
"projects," my co-workers and friends in the community often. In closing, it has been an honor and a pleasure to have
worked here.
Sincerely, !
,Dir!~
