A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF TWO (2) A/C STALKER BASIC
STATIONARY RADAR SPEED MEASURING DEVICES FROM MOTHERS AGAINST
DRUNK DRIVERS (MADD), WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $810 EACH, FOR A
TOTAL OF $1620, TO BE UTILIZED BY MIAMI BEACH POLICE OFFICERS TO
ENFORCE UNLAWFUL SPEEDING VIOLATIONS ON THE ROADWAYS OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Police Department is responsible for enforcing traffic
laws, including unlawful speeding violations in the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, unlawful speed by drivers, is one of the major causes of traffic crashes
and resultant injuries; and
WHEREAS, radar speed devices are a tool utilized to measure unlawful speeding
by drivers and is recognized by the Miami-Dade County Traffic Courts as a true indicator
of speed; and
WHEREAS, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) is a national organization that
advocates against drinking and driving, as well as compliance with other traffic laws; and
WHEREAS, MADD wishes to donate two (2) A/C Stalker Basic Stationary radar
speed measuring devices, valued at $810 each, to the Miami Beach Police Department;
and
WHEREAS, these devices will be utilized by Miami Beach Police Officers to
enforce unlawful speeding violations on the roadways of the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the
City Commission hereby accept the donation of two (2) A/C Stalker Basic Stationary
radar speed measuring devices from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), with an
estimated value of $810 each, for a total of $1620, to be utilized by Miami Beach Police
Officers to enforce unlawful speeding violations on the roadways of the City of Miami
Beach. /' /
