96-21943 RESO RESOLUTION NO. 96-21943 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROPRIATING $3,000,000 FROM FUNDS GOVERNED BY THE TOURIST AND CONVENTION CENTER EXPANSION AUTHORITY (TCCEA) INTO A NEWLY ESTABLISHED WORK ORDER ENTITLED, "GARDEN CENTER RENOVATIONS", FOR RENOVATION OF THE GARDEN CENTER AT 2000 CONVENTION CENTER DRIVE . WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need to improve the Garden Center facility; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission have expressed the desire to move forward with upgrading the quality and condition of the Garden Center; and WHEREAS, the Tourist and Convention Center Expansion Authority has approved the use of Convention Center funds for this project; and WHEREAS, appropriations are required to cover expenditures for renovating and improving the Garden Center; and WHEREAS, the appropriation of funds requested herein will allow the Administration to pay for renovation of the Garden Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission approve the appropriation of monies from the Tourist and Convention Center Expansion Authority, in the amount of $3,000,000, to be allocated to newly established Work Order entitled, "Garden Center Renovation". BACKGROUND: Both the City Commission and the TCCEA Board have previously approved the renovation of the Miami Beach Garden Center at a cost of $3 million, with funding available from Convention Development tax revenues. The Convention Center Expansion Authority Board has approved the transfer of $3,000,000 to a City Work Order for the purpose of renovating the Garden Center. The Administration requests the appropriation and transfer of these funds from the "Construction" trust account in order to provide necessary funds to commence work on this project.
