STATE BOARD APPOINTMENTS
The City's State Lobbyists have notified the Administration that there are seats on various State
boards that will become vacant during the first quarter of 200 1, The boards and vacancies are:
Florida Building Commission
This Board makes a continual study of the State Minimum Building Codes and other laws relating
to the construction of buildings and advises on new technologies, techniques and construction
material. Appointment to this Board requires confirmation by the Florida Senate. Available
vacancies include:
. A Structural Engineer registered to practice in Florida.
. A Fire protection engineer or technologist.
. A General Contractor certified to do business in Florida.
. A municipal or code enforcement official.
. A member of a Florida-based organization of persons with disabilities.
. A member of the manufactured buildings independently licensed to do business in
Florida.
Florida Communities Trust
This body makes and executes contracts and other instruments necessary or convenient to the
exercise of the powers of the trust, and provides technical and financial assistance to local and state
governments, water management districts, regional planning councils and nonprofit agencies. The
Governor makes appointments to this Board, which also require confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Available vacancies are:

. A representative of a nonprofit organization.
. A representative ofthe development industry.
Florida Governor's Council on Indian Affairs. Inc.
This corporation is organized for the purpose of providing or helping to provide technical assistance
for the educational, economic, social, and cultural advancement ofthe federally recognized Indian
tribes and their members with-in the State of Florida, and to provide information and assistance to
the federal, state, and local government organizations and to the general public. Appointment to this
council does not require confirmation. Four vacancies will open on this council.
Florida Greenwavs and Trails Council
This council advises the Department of Environmental Protection and other agencies on policies
relating to the Florida Greenways and Trails System, and promote intergovernmental cooperation;
recornmends priorities for critical links in the Florida Greenways and Trails System; and facilitates
a statewide system of interconnected land-based trails that connect urban, suburban, and rural areas
of the State. Appointment to this council is by the Governor and does not require confirmation.
Vacancies on this council are:
. One member representing the trail user community.
. Two members representing the greenway user community.
Florida Inland Navigation District
This Board performs and does all things which shall be requisite and necessary to comply with the
requirements and conditions imposed upon a "local interest" by the Congress of the United States
in the several acts authorizing and directing the improvement and maintenance of the Intracoastal
Waterway from St. Mary's River to the southern-most boundary of Dade County. Appointments
must be confirmed by the Florida Senate, however, the Miami-Dade County seat is not vacant at this
time.
Florida Interagencv Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers
Advises and assists Department of Education in performance of its duties under Public Law 102-1 19,
especially identification of support sources for early intervention programs, assignment of agency
financial responsibility, etc. Council submits an annual report to the Governor and the Secretary on
the status of early intervention programs for handicapped infants and toddlers and their families. All
members of this council are appointed by the Governor and do not require confirmation. Vacancies
on this council are:
. A parent of infants or toddlers or children with disabilities.
. Member of a public or private provider of early intervention services.

Governing Board, South Florida Water Management District
The District is to discharge the functions as set by the legislature: conserve, protect, manage, and
control State waters; preserve natural resources, fish and wildlife; and promote recreational
protection. These appointments require confirmation by the Florida Senate. The available vacancies
on this board are:
. One at-large member from St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Dade and Monroe
Counties (current member is from St. Lucie County).

of these boards, please forward names to me and the Administration will work with the City's State
Lobbyists on the nomination process.
