SUBJECT: 2000 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
This information is presented to update you on the 2000 City of Miami Beach United Way
Campaign.
The City of Miami Beach United Way Campaign for year 2000 has been concluded. The generosity
of our employees has resulted in a 10% increase over last year's donations. From $56,550.50 to
$62,791.44. In 1998 the total City Contribution was $31,443.00, therefore we have doubled the
amount of our contributions within a two-year period. This is something we can all be very proud
of. These donations will be used to provide services to the many people in our community who are
less fortunate than ourselves.
A special thanks goes to our Police Chief, Richard Barreto, who for the second year in a row has
coordinated our City's effort. In addition, special thanks to our former Parking Director Jadfie
Gonzalez, for spearheading the Leadership campaign, and to ChiefBarreto's staff, led by Ms. Patricia
Reeder, as well as all the ambassadors and employees who helped in this year's campaign.
And lastly, but certainly not least, special mention and thanks goes to the employees and directors
of the Central Services, Office of Children Affairs, the Media Relations Office, the Information
Technology Department, Fleet Management, the Office of Management and Budget, Purchasing, and
Internal Audit. Each of these Departments achieved 100% giving!
There will be a raffle held on Wednesday, November 22,2000 and all employees who contributed
will be eligible ]br wonderful prizes donated by various private companies, in addition the Mayor
will be hosting a luncheon for all Leadership givers in the next few weeks.
We all have every reason to be proud of our employees who have unselfishly given of themselves
to others.
