SUBJECT: Miami Dade County Releases Request For Proposals (RFP) For The Building
Better Communities Historic Preservation Fund Program
Miami-Dade County has released the guidelines and Request for Proposals for the Historic
Preservation Fund (the Fund), which is part of the Building Better Communities General
Obligation Bond Program (BBC GOB). The purpose of the Fund is to establish a facilities
preservation fund, that will provide matching funds through grants to municipalities, Florida
Non-profit 501(c)(3), Florida for profit corporations or recognized business entities and
property owners of residences or commercial historic properties for the rehabilitation of
historic structures and sites and to safeguard those historic properties considered
endangered. The program is geared to make an impact in the revitalization of historic
buildings.
The Fund is a component of the multi-year BBC GOB during which $10 million will be
awarded to eligible recipients. The maximum award ceilings, based on market value as
determined by the County's Property Appraiser are: $100,000 for properties valued under
$400,000; $150,000 for properties valued between $400,000 and $700,000; and $250,000
for properties valued over $700,000.
The deadline for applications is January 15, 2008. The City intends to notify residents,
businesses and not-for-profits through the City's Internet, MBTV 77, Citypage in the Miami
Herald Neighbors section and through other outreach and communication efforts. For
