Two separate contracts were approved: 1) A six month contract commencing December 1,

to exceed $142,713; and, 2) A twelve month contract commencing June 1, 2008 to May 31,
2009 for an amount not to exceed $661,138 with one subsequent renewal for twelve months
for an annual amount of $661,138, based on performance. The second contract from June
1, 2008 to May 31, 2009 is subject to reauthorization of the Children's Trust initiative by the
voters in 2008.
The Children's Trust was created and funded by Miami-Dade voters, through a referendum
in September 2002 which approved an Independent Special District, a dedicated funding
source for children entitled "The Children's Trust". A "sunset provision" requires that the
initiative be reauthorized by voters in August 2008. If the voters reauthorize the initiative,
then "The Children's Trust" will be created permanently and funding will be guaranteed for
the duration of all contracts. Please contact me if you need any additional information.
