SUBJECT: MEETING OF THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON CONDOMINIUM AND
HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION GOVERNANCE
The purpose of this LTC is to provide the Mayor and City Commission with the attached
meeting notice for the House of Representatives Select Committee on Condominium and
Homeowners Association Governance. As directed by the Speaker of the House, the
Committee will meet in Miami Beach on February 9, 2008. The details of the meeting are:

10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Nautilus Middle School, 4301 N. Michigan Avenue, Miami Beach
The purpose of the meeting is to examine state governance of condominiums and
homeowners associations. The Committee will hear testimony from the public regarding
issues with their association, and will attempt to resolve issues where possible.

The purpose of the meeting is to examine state governance of condominiums, cooperatives, and homeowners
associations, to include accounting, budgeting, audits, theft by officers and directors, elections, and access
to records, the state regulation of condominiums and cooperatives by the Department of Business and
Professional Regulation.
The Chair has invited representatives of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the
Condominium Ombudsman, and other interested parties to attend the meeting. The Select Committee will
hear testimony from the public regarding issues with their association, and will attempt to resolve issues
where possible.
Chairman Robaina asks that members of the public who testify before the Select Committee be prepared to
offer specific recommendations for amendments to the laws governing associations. Such laws are primarily
found in Chapters 718, 719, and 720 of the Florida Statutes. The Florida Statutes may be accessed at many
