RESOLUTION NO. 96-22015
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
CONSENTING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF PHILIP AZAN
AS BUILDING DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH.
Whereas, the City Manager has appointed Philip Azan as the Building Director of the City
of Miami Beach; and,
Whereas, pursuant to Section 4.02 of the City of Miami Beach Charter, as well as Section
2-3 of the City Code, the City Manager has power to appoint directors of City departments with the
consent and confirmation of the Mayor and the City Commission; and,
Whereas, the Mayor and the City Commission wish to consent and confirm the appointment
of Philip Azan as Building Director of the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City
Commission have consented to the appointment of Philip Azan as the Building Director of the City
of Miami Beach.

RECOMMENDATION:
Pursuant to Article IV, Section 4.02 of the City Charter and Section 2.3 of the City Code, it is
recommended that the Mayor and the City Commission adopt the attached resolution consenting to
the appointment of Philip Azan as Building Director of the City of Miami Beach.
BACKGROUND:
Upon the retirement of Paul Gioia, I appointed Philip Azan, then Assistant Building Director, as
Acting Building Director. Mr. Azan has now had seven months as Acting Building Director, adding
to his 14 years of experience with the City of Miami Beach. He has performed very well in the
position and has gained the respect of the community. Attached for your review and information
is a copy of Mr. Azan's resume.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the attached Resolution consenting
to the appointment of Philip Azan as Building Director.
