SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation Department - 2008 Summer Overview
The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce yet another successful summer.
Facilities were full to capacity with 2,417 children serviced at various City sites.
Of the 2,417 campers, 1,224 were day campers of which 75.1% or 919 received full or partial
scholarships. The other 1,193 children registered for one or more of our 20 different specialty
camps offered this year. 358 of these children or 30% received a 25% sibling discount or a full or
partial scholarship as part of your approved scholarship expansion program. This is an 8%
increase from last year's scholarships/discounts distributed.
Overall, of the 2,417 participants enrolled in a day camp or specialty camp, 1,277 participants or
52.8% received a full or partial scholarship.
