A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND ACCEPTING AN EASEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY, AS GRANTEE, AND THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
(HOUSING AUTHORITY), AS GRANTOR, FOR AN APPROXIMATELY 8.6 FOOT WIDE
STRIP OF LAND ABUTTING THE WEST SIDE OF ALTON ROAD AT THE REBECCA
TOWERS PROPERTY, 150 ALTON ROAD, MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA (SAID EASEMENT
AREA AS FURTHER SPECIFICALLY DELINEATED IN ATTACHMENT "1" TO THIS
RESOLUTION); SAID EASEMENT REQUIRED BY THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF
DESIGNING, CONSTRUCTING, AND MAINTAINING ANEW BUS SHELTER.
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority has requested, and the Administration has agreed, to
construct, operate, and maintain a new bus shelter structure, in place of the existing one at Rebecca
Towers, 150 Alton Road; and
WHEREAS, the City would need an easement from the Housing Authority in order to install
the new bus shelter; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Towers is managed and owned by the Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority has agreed to grant the City an easement for such
purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission
hereby approve and accept an easement between the City, as Grantee, and the Housing Authority
of the City of Miami Beach (Housing Authority), as Grantor, for an approximately 8.6 foot wide strip
of land abutting the west side of Alton Road at the Rebecca Towers Property, 150 Alton Road,
Miami Beach, Florida (said Easement Area as further specifically delineated in Attachment "1" to this
Resolution); said easement required by the City for the purpose of designing, construction, and
maintaining a new bus shelter.

quality of life issue). 24% of residents rated traffic flow excellent or good, and 37% as poor. 35% of residents rated
the availability of pedestrian trails and bicycle paths/lanes as excellent or good, and 30% as poor.

Item Summary/Kecommenaanon:
The City of Miami Beach has a program for the installation of new bus shelters and other street furniture citywide. The
program also calls for replacing all old bus shelters with the new design bus shelter structure. During the planning
phase to replace the existing bus shelter, City staff conducted field measurements and determined that the new bus
shelter cannot be accommodated within the existing right-of-way. In order to accommodate the new bus shelter,
additional private property space is required.
Rebecca Towers is a property managed and owned by the Housing Authority of the City of Miami Beach (Housing
Authority). In order to expedite the replacement of the old bus shelter with the new design structure, the Housing
Authority is providing the City with the required easement.
The new bus shelter will require an easement that is 8.6 feet wide and 47 feet long. The easement is required for the
installation, operation, maintenance, construction and repair of the bus shelter and foundation.
THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE RESOLUTION.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION

ANALYSIS
The City of Miami Beach has a program for the installation of new bus shelters and other street
furniture Citywide. The program also calls for replacing all old bus shelters with the new design
bus shelter structure.

existing ROW space. In order to accommodate the new bus shelter, additional private property
space is required (See Attachment 1, Site Plan).
Rebecca Towers is a property managed and owned by the Housing Authority of the City of
Miami Beach (Housing Authority). In order to expedite the replacement of the old bus shelter
with the new design structure, the Housing Authority is providing the City with the required
easement.
The new bus shelter will require an easement that is 8.6 feet wide and 47 feet long. The
easement is required for the installation, operation, maintenance, construction and repair of the
bus shelter and foundation. (For more information, see Attachment 2. Legal Description of
Easement Area). The Housing Authority has agreed to grant the City an easement for the
construction of a new bus shelter at 150 Alton Road.
CONCLUSION
The Administration recommends that the City Commission approve the Resolution to accept the
easement.
