SUBJECT PAINT THE BOARDWALK VOLUNTEER EVENT
The purpose of this LTC is to inform you that the City of Miami Beach Community Resource
and Outreach Team has developed and is promoting "Hands On Miami Beach Day" on
November 8, 2008.
This is the eighth year that The Volunteer Network, a program of the community Resource
and Outreach Team that supports and promotes volunteerism throughout the City of Miami
Beach, is partnering with Hands On Miami, Inc. to provide a day of volunteering on Miami
Beach. This year we will be painting the Boardwalk.
Hands On Miami, Inc. (HOM) has been partnering with schools, local government, social
service and environmental groups since 1993. HOM organizes more than 70 service
opportunities each month, offering thousands of residents the chance to make a difference
in their community. We partner with the agency for our monthly "Adopt-a-park" program in
North Shore Open Space Park, which has been operating successfully for over four years.
Paint the Boardwalk:
The Community Resource and Outreach team will work closely with the Ciry Property
Management Division and over 300 volunteers to paint the boardwalk from 46'" Street South
on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The project begins at 9:00 AM on site at Collins Avenue
and 35"' Street and will end at noon. Volunteers apply to be part of the event through www.
Handsonmiami.org.
We invite the Mayor and Commission to join our volunteers who are giving their time for the
improvement of our community. The "Hands On Miami' event is sponsored by Starbucks.
