Beyond its internationally recognized beaches, its world-renowned museums, revered theatres and innovative programming have made the city a top travel destination for arts and culture. In 2002, Art Basel, a global show for modern and contemporary art, made its way to Miami Beach for its prominent debut. Today, the dynamic art fair has sparked a cultural movement -- activating art in an array of public spaces, museums and hotels throughout the tropical metropolis every early December. “Attracting art enthusiasts from across the world to our great city, Art Week has become an international holiday in Miami Beach,” expressed City Manager Jimmy L. Morales. “We’re excited to entertain Art Basel once again in our Miami Beach Convention Center and the other captivating art events for another successful year.” In order to accommodate the high amount of visitors, the City of Miami Beach encourages all to move around town using free citywide trolleys. For those looking to explore City of Miami art fairs, attendees can use the free Venetian shuttle service or the water taxi service at Purdy Avenue dock. In order to further improve the city’s roadways during the high-traffic season, the traffic pattern on Indian Creek Drive along Collins Avenue will be restored beginning Friday, December 1. Along Collins Avenue, all travel lanes are scheduled to reopen to northbound only access between 26 and 36 Streets. At least one southbound lane will be open between 26 and 41 Streets along Indian Creek Drive.
