City of Miami Beach, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139, www.miamibeachfl.gov OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS, Melissa Berthier PRESS RELEASE Tel: 305.673.7575, E-mail: melissaberthier@miamibeachfl.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 1, 2017 Free Tax Preparation Services on Miami Beach -- For Income Eligible Residents -- Miami Beach, FL – With tax season underway, the City of Miami Beach is once again offering free income tax preparation services starting February 1 through April 14 for residents and employees whose household income does not exceed $54,000. “We are excited to once again offer free, in-person tax assistance and preparation to our low- and moderate-income residents,” said Miami Beach Director of Housing and Community Services Maria Ruiz. “Last year, more than 100 households benefited from our services and we look forward to serving even more families this year.” Income tax preparation services are being offered by appointment only in the Office of Housing and Community Services, located at 555 17 Street, in partnership with Branches, Inc. and the Internal Revenue Services via the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Tax preparation will occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays through the end of tax season via appointment only by calling 305.673.7491. Residents are reminded to bring the following documentation in order to receive assistance: • Valid government-issued identification card; • Social Security card for all persons declared as dependents on the tax return; • All 2016 W -2s; • Information for all other income; • Account and routing numbers for direct deposit of refund, if applicable; • Forms 1095-A, B or C (ACA Statements); • Total paid to day care provider and their tax ID number, if applicable; • Copy of last year's tax return and; • Identity theft pin, if applicable) ### To request this material in alternate format, sign language interpreter (five-day notice required), information on access for persons with disabilities, and/or any accommodation to review any document or participate in any city-sponsored proceedings, call 305.604.2489 and select 1 for English or 2 for Spanish, then option 6; TTY users may call via 711 (Florida Relay Service).
