Dedication of South Pointe Park Water Feature
-- In Memory of Former Deputy Police Chief Mark N. Overton --
WHAT/WHO: Join the City of Miami Beach in a dedication ceremony on Thursday,
January 18 for the newly renovated South Pointe Park water fountains in
honor of Chief Mark N. Overton, former Miami Beach Police Deputy
Chief. We will commemorate his 32 years of dedicated law enforcement
service.
“Chief Overton showcased the finest values of the department: honor,
integrity and dedication,” said Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy L.
Morales. “His love for South Pointe Park and remarkable legacy
throughout South Florida will always be remembered.”
Featuring new landscaping and pathway lighting, the passive fountains
and misters are lined with soft, fluorescent lights. The fountains are
highlighted by surfaces and vanishing edges similar to an infinity pool
that provide a minimalistic design. Granting an additional area for
pedestrians to unwind and reflect, coral stone benches have been
installed in line with the park’s aesthetic.
