SUBJECT: JOSE MARTI EVENT — COLLINS PA' K
The purpose of this LTC is to notify the Mayor and City Commission of the upcoming
José Marti event hosted by the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department
in conjunction with the Hispanic Affairs Committee.
José Marti was a dynamic figure in Cuban history and made tremendous contributions to
Latin American literature. To celebrate his life and accomplishments, the City will be
hosting an event on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Collins Park (Collins Avenue and 21St
Street). The event will open with light refreshments beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the
ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Musical acts, influential speakers, and poets will perform for guests in addition to the
traditional wreath laying ceremony to mark this historic moment in Cuban history.
