SUBJECT: GT ECO CAR WASH — SIX MON CAR WASH PILOT PROGRAM
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to update the Mayor and Commission of
the initiation of the waterless car wash pilot program at the 17th Street Garage and on select
days at the City Hall Garage (CHG).
The pilot program is the first phase of the procurement and initial concession agreement
between the City and GT Eco Car Wash. The pilot will run for a period not to exceed six (6)
months. At the end of the pilot program, if deemed successful and approved by the Finance
Citywide Project Committee and subsequently by the City Commission, the agreement may
be extended to a second phase for a longer period of time with expanded service to
additional garages.
GT Eco commenced operations with a "soft opening" at the 17th Street Garage on Level 2 of
the garage on February 7, 2019. The service is available seven (7) days a week between the
hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. They have been extremely well received and even had
repeat customers.
Service at CHG will take place on Fridays during the pilot. GT Eco started on Friday,
February 22nd and operates on Level 6 of the garage between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and
6:00 p.m. Reaction to the service has been extremely positive at this location as well.
The Parking and Communications Departments are working with GT Eco to promote this
ecologically safe car wash service to transient and monthly parkers as well as to employees.
Tweaks in signage and increased notifications of the service are in the works and appropriate
now that GT Eco has established car wash procedures that have proven to work in the
allocated areas.
