SUBJECT: Police Memorial Ceremony
This Letter to Commission is to invite you to attend the Miami Beach Police Memorial
Ceremony on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the
monument in front of the Miami Beach Police Station.
The Memorial Ceremony is the one day each year where we formally honor those Miami
Beach Police Officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.
You are also invited to join Chief Oates and members of the Police Command Staff and
many members of the Miami Beach Police Department and Miami Dade's law
enforcement community at the Police Memorial Ceremony for all of Miami-Dade County
that same evening. This ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Tropical Park (7900
S.W. 40th Street) and will honor all the recorded fallen heroes from throughout Miami-
Dade County.
Both ceremonies this year have particularly special meaning for the MBPD because of
the recent death of Sergeant Larry Marrero. At each ceremony, special recognition will
be given to the new placement of Sergeant Marrero's name on the memorial wall.
