The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform the Mayor and the Commission of a
motion made by the LGBTQ Advisory Committee at their meeting on April 9, 2019.
MOTION:
The Committee recommends for the City Commission to pass a resolution including the following:
The Miami Beach Commission condemns in the strongest terms the recent ruling of the Sultan of
Brunei's stoning of homosexuals (LGBTQ people) to death. We abhor this murdering of innocent
people. We advise the residents of Miami Beach and good citizens all over the world to avoid
vacationing in Brunei and the list of hotels owned by the Sultan, which include Hotel Bel Air in Los
Angeles, Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, The Dorchester in London, England, 45 Park Lane in
London, England, Coworth Park in Ascot, England, Le Maurice in Paris, France, Hotel Plaza
Athenee in Paris France, Hotel Eden in Rome, Italy, and Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milano, Italy.
The City of Miami Beach should make it clear that we do not support the murdering of innocent
people.
