Morales, City Manager DATE: May 15, 2019 SUBJECT: UPCOMING PARKS AND RECRE TION JUNE 2019 EVENTS Event: Date: Time: Summer Camp Meet & Greet June 8 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Location: Flamingo Park (999 11th St), Muss Park (4300 Chase Ave), Normandy Isle Park (7030 Trouville Esplanade), North Shore Park and Youth Center (501 72nd St), Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan Ave), and South Pointe Park (1 Washington Ave) The Parks and Recreation Department is extending a special invitation to families who want to meet their child's summer camp counselor before the first day of camp. Parents are encouraged to take this opportunity to meet one-on-one with staff and tour the facility. Event: New Balance Fitness Challenge Date: June 12 Time: 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Location: Flamingo Park Football Stadium (999 11th St) The Parks and Recreation Department, New Balance, and Miami Marlin's own Curtis Granderson have partnered up for the New Balance Fitness Challenge, an event meant to engage the community, and inspire participants to learn the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle. The challenge consists of a 1-day fitness event with Miami Beach summer camp participants and the Miami Beach Boys and Girls Club. The activities are designed to promote cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. New Balance will captain the event, provide inspiration and encouragement, and lead fitness games alongside Parks and Recreation staff.
