SUBJECT: Arbor Day Foundation Tree Plan ing Event at Allison Park
We are pleased to invite you to a tree planting event on May 31 at Allison Park, funded by the Arbor
Day Foundation and Fogg Charitable Trust.
In September 2017, we experienced tree canopy loss as a result of Hurricane Irma . Earlier this year
we applied for and received a grant from the Arbor Day Foundation to replant areas impacted by the
hurricane. Our grant proposal as awarded will fund the planting of 35 trees in Allison Park using
volunteers since it was one of the properties whose tree canopy was most devastated. Tree species
will include Green Buttonwood, Silver Buttonwood, Gumbo Limbo, and Royal Poinciana.
This grant will help us establish a more resilient, diverse, and sustainable tree canopy to the area.
The trees will provide much needed shade and habitat to local wildlife , as well as enjoyment to all
who visit the oceanside park. We hope that you will join us for this public event. Please see the
