Date: June 15, 2019 Time: 10:00 a.m. —2:00 p.m. Location: Kayak Launch (west of Dickens Avenue, north of 73rd Street) The Parks and Recreation Department is extending an invitation to the community to come enjoy an afternoon exploring our waters with dad where participants can experience nature from a new perspective. Kayaks are limited, and session times will be from 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Double kayak rentals will be $20 and is open to participants ages 5 & up. Reservation must be done online at www.reqister.miamibeachparks.com. Life jackets must always be worn, and children must be with a parent or guardian. Event: World's Largest Swim Lesson Date: June 20, 2019 Time: 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. Location: Flamingo Park (999 11th St), Normandy Isle Park (7030 Trouville Esplanade), Scott Rakow Youth Center(2700 Sheridan Ave), The Parks and Recreation Department has joined the World Largest Swim Lesson (WLSL) to promote the importance of swimming lessons in the Miami Beach community. The WLSL is a global event that serves as a platform to help the global aquatics industry work together to build awareness about the fundamental importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning. Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for U.S. children ages 1-14. WLSL will be celebrating its 10th anniversary by sending the message that"Swimming Lessons Save Lives". The Parks and Recreation Department will be one of several hundred events taking place in more than 20 countries on 5 continents.
