SUBJECT: Launch of On-Demand Transit S ice Pilot Program
We are excited to announce the launch of the City's free on-demand transit service on Friday,
May 31 at 2 p.m.
Through a partnership with Freebee, the City's On-Demand Transit service will provide a free,
eco-friendly, and convenient mobility option for Middle Beach residents and commuters. The
service will connect to the Miami Beach Trolley and Miami-Dade County Bus service as well as
provide door-to-door service for trips originating and ending within the geo-fenced service area.
The goal of the pilot program is to serve low-demand areas in Middle Beach that are currently not
served or underserved by the City's trolley service and the County's bus service. The service will
operate as a continuous vanpool, dynamically adjusting vehicle routing to appropriately meet
passenger demand and service needs within the service area, using a wheelchair accessible fully-

A free ride can be requested via a mobile app or by phone. The pilot program is anticipated to
operate until Monday, September 30, 2019. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday
from 6:30AM to 10PM, and Sundays from 8:30AM to 10PM. If successful, the service is
anticipated to become permanent next fiscal year and serve various low-demand residential areas
throughout the City. The City's Transportation Department is working through the FY2019/20
budget process to secure the funding for implementation of permanent on-demand transit service,
pending evaluation of the pilot program.
