Granado, City Clerk / DATE: August 13, 2019 SUBJECT: DEADLINES TO PLACE AN ITEM(S) ON THE MARCH, AUGUST, AND/OR NOVEMBER 2020 BALLOTS. Should the City of Miami Beach wish to conduct a special election along with the Countywide 2020 Presidential Preference Primary, Primary, and/or General Elections, the deadlines listed below must be followed, in order to allow sufficient time for ballot preparation and to meet State-mandated deadlines to mail absentee ballots to overseas voters. Note that pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 100.151, "...the governing authority of a municipality shall not call any special election until notice is given to the Supervisor of Elections and his(her)consent obtained as to a date..." Once approval is obtained from the Supervisor of Elections, the resolution to call a special election must be passed to meet the deadlines listed below. 2020 SCHEDULED DEADLINE TO SUBMIT RESOLUTION TO COUNTYWIDE THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS ELECTIONS FOR CHARTER AMENDMENTS OR ANY OTHER QUESTIONS PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY ELECTION No later than March 17, 2020 Friday, November 29, 2019 PRIMARY ELECTION No later than August 18, 2020 Friday, May 29, 2020 GENERAL ELECTION No later than November 3, 2020 Friday, July 31, 2020 If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the City Clerk at 305.673.7411. c: Jimmy L.
