SUBJECT: PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS N NORMANDY DRIVE AT RUE GRANVILLE AND
AT RUE VERSAILLES
In November 2016, the City Commission adopted a resolution urging the Florida Department of
Transportation (FOOT) to advance the installation of signalized crosswalks at the 900 block of
Normandy Drive. I am happy to report that FOOT has commenced the installation of new
pedestrian crosswalks on Normandy Drive at Rue Versailles and at Rue Granville. The contractor
will begin with construction activities at the intersection of Normandy Drive and Rue Granville.
The scope of work for the project consists of:
Normandy Drive and Rue Granville:
• Repaving and restriping the roadway
• Installing a new crosswalk and overhead pedestrian flashing beacons
• Upgrading sidewalks, pedestrian curb ramps, signage, pavement markings, and lighting
• Relocating exiting bus stop from the west side of the intersection to the east side
Normandy Drive from Rue Versailles to Bay Drive:
• Widening, repaving, and restriping the roadway
• Installing a new signalized crosswalk at Normandy Drive and Rue Versailles
• Upgrading sidewalk, pedestrian curb ramps, signage, pavement markings, signalization,
and lighting
• Adding a raised median with landscaping to prevent pedestrians from jayw alking
The project includes the removal of some on-street parking spaces to accommodate the new
crosswalks. Lane closures are scheduled to begin today, Jan uary 10, 2020 and last for about six
months during non-peak traffic times only, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Attached is the FOOT project
fact sheet.
The City's Traffic Monitor and Traffic Engineer will monitor traffic conditions along Normandy Drive
during construction and modify traffic signal timing as needed to help mitigate congestion.

Lane Closure on SR 934/Normandy Drive to Occur January 10
State Road (SR) 934/Normandy Drive at Rue Granville
Miami, Fla. On Friday, January 10, 2020, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be
closing the outside lane of westbound SR 934/Normandy Drive approaching Rue Granville, between the
hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., to allow for the relocation of a pullbox. There could be minor impacts to
traffic during these hours.
Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unexpected conditions.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a roadway construction project the week of
January 13, 2020, at the intersection of SR AlA/Collins Avenue and 79 Street in Miami-Dade County.

• 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.-Sunday through Thursday

• Workers and equipment moving around the area
• Allow extra time to reach your destination
• Obey all posted signs and speed limits
