The purpose of this Letter to Commission (L TC) is to provide the Mayor and City Commission
with an update regarding a new partnership between the City of Miami Beach and Miami-Dade
County Transit which provides a new customer service enhancement at the City's Customer
Service Center (CSC) for residents wishing to obtain Miami-Dade Transit Metrobus and Metrorail
Passes.
Previously, residents wishing to obtain their initial Miami-Dade Transit Metrobus and Metrorail
Pass have had to leave the City and personally visit a Miami-Dade Transit or Transit satellite
office to obtain their permit. U ntil he left office in 2018, passes were available at County
Commissioner Bruno Barreiro's Miami Beach office once a month.
The new partnership makes the CSC a satellite office where residents can apply for the Miami-
Dade Transit Golden and Patriot passports on all business days of the year. The CSC is now
able to process dedicated transit applications for veterans, seniors, students, and low-income
residents. These applicants will no longer need to visit the mainland to process their new
applications. Miami-Dade County estimates the CSC will process 1,200 annual transactions.
The Finance Department will partner with the Communications Department and Miami-Dade
County regarding appropriate public outreach regarding this new customer service enhancement.
