Morales, City Manager DATE: February 5, 2020 SUBJECT: OFFICE OF MARKETING AND OMMUNICATIONS RECEIVES MULTIPLE INTERNATIONAL, NATIONAL AND LOCAL AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS The purpose of this letter to commission is to announce that the city's Marketing & Communications office has received multiple awards from national organizations, including Davey Awards, Florida Municipal Communicators Association and were announced as finalists by the PR News CSR & Nonprofit Awards for its social media and public relations campaigns. The Davey Awards is a national awards organization sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, which is an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms and include executives from organizations such as Conde Nast, Disney, GE, Microsoft, MTV, Yahoo! and many more. The office won five Davey Awards for Best Use of Social Features/Best Use of Social Video for the Plastic Free MB marketing campaign, Best Use of Mobile Features/GPS Location Technology for the digital strategy portion of the MB Rising Above campaign and Best Social Video/Public Service and Activism in Social Media for the Steam+ Program video. The Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA) is a division of the Florida League of Cities and is a network comprised of communicators throughout Florida, providing communications support for all Florida cities and towns. Judged by a panel of their peers, the office tied for the most awards at the event, including an Outstanding Award for its municipal website, MBArtsandCulture.org and received honorable mentions for the Plastic Free MB video and MB magazine's graphic design. PR News CSR & Nonprofit Awards honor the most talented communicators and teams internationally, that work hard to make the world a better place via corporate social responsibility and nonprofit initiatives. The award ceremony honors teams that have set new standards of excellence and are leading the way for others to follow. Alongside major brands and corporations such as ESPN, Mastercard, Delta Airlines and many others, the office has been named a finalist for three awards in the following categories: Environment Stewardship for Plastic Free MB, Digital PR & Marketing for Miami Beach Rising Above, and Cause Branding Campaign for Miami Beach Rising Above.
