Miami Beach Kicks Off First Phase of $2 Million Traffic
Calming Effort in Nautilus Neighborhood
–Tuesday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m.–
WHO/WHAT: Join the City of Miami Beach as it breaks ground on the first portion of its
citywide traffic calming project to make residential streets safer and more
pedestrian-friendly. Beginning with the Nautilus area, neighborhood
roads will receive new transportation safety measures, including junction
traffic circles, raised intersections, added chicanes and lowered speed
limits.
The Mayor and City Commission will inaugurate the project alongside
City Manager Jimmy L. Morales and members of the Nautilus
community.
Construction in Nautilus will be complete this December and construction
in Bayshore will begin next year. Traffic calming solutions are also
scheduled for the Normandy Isle and Palm View neighborhoods.
The neighborhood improvement project is funded by the $439 million
General Obligation (G.O.) Bond Program, which Miami Beach residents
voted to approve in November 2018. To view upcoming projects and
