In an effort to continue ensuring their residents are resilient, Miami Beach city staff will be making a special delivery for participants in the city’s Grocery Delivery Program on Saturday, September 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – ensuring the most vulnerable residents remain resilient and prepared. Funded through the city’s Community Development Block Grant, the Grocery Delivery program provides much needed monthly nutritional support for very low-income elderly residents who face food insecurity as they juggle living expenses in a fixed income. Each month, program participants receive fresh fruits, vegetables, protein and shelf staples delivered by Whole Foods in conjunction with the city. In addition to the grocery items delivered earlier this month, participants will receive a special one-time delivery of needed every day household items (including laundry detergent and cleaning supplies, personal toiletries and other needed household goods) alongside an emergency preparedness bag that includes a 3-day supply of Meals Ready to Eat (MRE), emergency flashlight, first aid kit, water, water purification tables and more. Currently, 96 elderly residents are enrolled in the program.
