Miami Beach 2019 Hispanic Heritage Month Awardees Announced
— Recipients to be Honored at Hispanic Heritage Awards Ceremony on
Thursday, September 19 —
Miami Beach, FL – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the City of Miami Beach
honors those that have contributed positively to the Miami Beach community in their
respective professional field, and live or work in the City of Miami Beach.
Following a competitive vetting of nominations from the community, the City of Miami
Beach is proud to honor the following individuals and businesses:
• Reina Roffe – Educator
• Marina Font – Artist
• Havana 1957 and Café Avanti – Business
• Felix Quesada – Adult Contributing to Success of Youth
• Iglesia Bautista el Poder de Dios – Social Service Provider
• Lt. Jair Armatrading (MBPD) – Public Safety Personnel (Police)
• John Paul Mejia – Youth Under 18 Involved in Community Service
Recipients will be recognized at the annual Hispanic Heritage Awards Ceremony taking
place on Thursday, September 19 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Miami Beach Golf
Course located at 2301 Alton Road. The celebrations for the month will conclude with
the Hispanic Heritage Musical Celebration & Dance taking place on Saturday, October
12 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the North Shore Bandshell located at 7275 Collins Avenue.
In conjunction with the Rhythm Foundation, the free concert will feature Tito Puente Jr.
and his Latin Jazz Ensemble.
