Morales, City Manager DATE: June 5, 2020 ETTER TO COMMISSION SUBJECT: Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Stor Risk Management Feasibility Study Public Comment Period Open The United States Army Corps of Engineers' Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study is investigating solutions to reduce the damage and risks from flooding that comes from storm surges associated with hurricanes and tropical storms amplified by sea level rise. The study focuses on critical infrastructure and areas of the county that are vulnerable to coastal storms. Attached is an overview of the project. Today, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with Miami-Dade County, has released the Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for the Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study. The public has until Monday, July 20, 2020 to comment and provide feedback to the Army Corps on the plan. The Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement is available on the Army Corps' website: https://www._saj_usace.army.mil/MiamiDadeBackBayCSRMFeasibilityStudy! The public is invited to participate in a virtual online public meeting hosted by the Army Corps to learn more about the study and ask questions. Virtual meetings will be held on the following dates: Tuesday, June 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday, June 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Army Corps will also be holding virtual office hours on Wednesday, June 10 from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday, June 18 from 5p.m. to 6 p.m. To participate in the virtual public meetings or office hours, log in at https://usacewebex.com/meet/alicia.m.logalbo and enter your name and email address.
