The City funds access to licensed clinical social workers for mental health support at all Miami Beach public schools and partners with neighboring municipalities to provide these same services to public schools within the Miami Beach feeder pattern. For the 2020-21 school year, three municipal funded mental health providers are available virtually and/or onsite at North Beach Elementary, Miami Beach South Pointe Elementary, Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8 Center, Biscayne Beach Elementary, Treasure Island Elementary, Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School, and Miami Beach Senior High School. Overall, 1,885 youth received mental health support services in the 2019-20 school year from the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Social Worker) in all Miami Beach feeder public schools. Mental health services include on-site and virtual access to a licensed clinical social worker to provide support including, but not limited to, the following: o Academic Issues o Attention Issues o Anger Management o Anxiety o Attention Issues o Disruptive Behavior o Depression o Stress Management o Family Issues For the 2020-21 school year, the number of days of support available at each school is as follows: Treasure Island Elementary one (1) day per week, North Beach Elementary two (2) days per week, Biscayne Beach Elementary one (1) day per week, Ruth K. Broad K-8 Center two (2) days per week, Miami Beach South Pointe Elementary one (1) day per week, Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8 one (1) day per week, Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School two (2) days per week, and Miami Beach Senior High School five (5) days per week. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FINDING PEACE OF MIND The City of Miami Beach, through our Education Compact with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, continues to provide mental health support services for all Miami Beach public school children through The Children's Trust and Borinquen Medical Center. SERVICES A mental health professional is now available to provide individual telephonic support for any child or family in need with services included but not limited to: • Anxiety • Depression • Stress Management • Family Issues 1 in 3 Children suffer developmental or behavioral disabilities that limit their health and school performance. Behavioral health issues can affect a student's performance, increase truancy, school dropout rates, and difficulties in learning. If you are in need of this service, please contact your child's school counselor or principal via email or call and ask for your school site administrator.
